Mountain View

Project Description

This project restores the Mountain View Branch to its original location and adds a much needed community room. The new branch features green building design and will serve as a modern, multi-cultural resource with a diverse collection of books, media, and magazines, and community-oriented programming that reflects the neighborhood's rich cultural diversity. The building is on target for Silver level LEED© green building certification and will be among the first LEED© certified buildings in Anchorage.

Timeline

The contract for the project was awarded to SR Bales Construction, Inc. in December 2008. Construction began in early March 2009, and was completed in spring 2010. Shelving and furniture was installed in May, brand new books, movies and music are on the shelves and the library will open in early September 2010.
